CFAM OGF ON MILLENNIAL…

Last Nov. 18, 2016 CFAM OGF was held at the Lay Formation Chapel with Dr. Alfredo M. Di Maano, DBM as the source person. He shared his expertise on the modern approaches and teaching methodologies especially in our present school context. Pedagogical Approaches Across Millennial –Towards the Development of a Critical Thinking Environment, the topic he explicated during the assembly. According to him when a child is deprived of catechetical formation, He or She is also deprived of spiritual formation. It is good that we ask ourselves, Do we live a life of a catechist from the time we wake up and we retire at night? There is a need for ACTION and CONTEMPLATION. He cited an example…on Sex for instance, it is a Gift but we must know the rudiments and the responsibility behind that gift. Be an authentic witness.

Catechist is a POWERFUL TEACHER…As a teacher your personal approach and daily mood can make the life of your students miserable or joyous, you can be a TOOL of torture or instrument of inspiration, humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.

THE REAL IMAGE OR IDENTITY OF FILIPINO CATECHIST:

A Catechist that has an active part on SOCIAL, CULTURAL, POLITICAL, CULTURAL, ENVIRONMENTAL

aspect of life, Who has knowledge on ECONOMIC and TECHNOLOGY! Making every public school a

catholic school and making Christ alive in us!

EDUCATION BLUEPRINT FOR THE 21ST CENTURY…

Era of unprecedented breakthroughs in technology and constant change could not be a barrier of doing

Good.. there must be a metanoia- change of mind and heart.

NEW EXPECTATIONS:

-          Equality of opportunity

-          High levels of accessibility and equality

-          The concept of the academic as between the teacher and learner, more of a resource manager as much as subject expert.

YOU ARE THE FACILITATOR…

-          Students need to adopt a “deep approach” to their learning…

WHAT TO ACHIEVE IN LEARNING…

·         Motivational Context

·         Learner Activity

·         Interaction with others

·         A well structured knowledge base

·         Feedbacks

·         Opportunity for reflection

Towards the end of his talk Dr. Di Maano posted this question to the catechists…

How serious you are in this ministry?

Be vigorous, enthusiastic, alive, innovative and creative DO IT EXTRA ORDINARILY!

Nothing EARN in catechesis but something LEARN!

Indeed it was a gratifying day for all the catechists of the Archdiocese of Manila.
